I really enjoyed this medieval romance, especially the details about life at that time. Amice the heroine is sympathetic and faced with the prospect of an arranged marriage because she happens to be a widow of means. I would have thought that a woman in her position would have had some power in this world but apparently not. I also enjoyed the hero. Nicholas is committed to his faith, is noble and protective of the heroine and also loyal to his king. Though he would like to marry Amice, the king has other ideas for her future.I look forward to reading more of Ruth Kaufman's books.

While the book had good historical facts, the plot was interesting and it was a good inspirational read it was not well written at all. The conversation lines are awkward and stilted and the story line reads very slowly. At certain points in the book that seem to be well written I had such hope that it would get better but then it would go back to tedious writing. The feelings between the two romantic characters are not believable. I will not be reading this author again.
I'm not into the "romance" parts of the historical romance books, so was very much intrigued by an inspirational version! All the good stuff with none of the bedroom stuff. It was an easy, enjoyable read and I actually learned a lot about history. Considering the price, it was definitely well worth it. Looking forward to more from this author.
